Representing the people of the East Grinstead area

What Are Our Aims?

To oppose excessive housing development in East Grinstead and area; and
To achieve real and effective traffic relief for East Grinstead and area.
In more general terms, the Aims of the Group are: to establish the common views of concerned residents of East Grinstead and the surrounding area regarding large-scale development and by-pass proposals; and to provide a coherent forum for these views to be voiced and impressed upon those taking decisions on behalf of those residents.

What Are Our Views?

Full acceptance of the vital need for peak-period traffic relief in and around East Grinstead.
Unanimous opposition to any attempt to revive the Imberhorne Farm "New Settlement", Worsted Farm development (near Ashurst Wood, off the Lewes Road), Great Harwoods development (adjacent to Herontye), or any other large-scale development in the immediate East Grinstead area.
Belief from evidence so far presented – mainly the three major traffic studies completed by the County between 1989 and 1995 – that none of the proposed by-pass routes will significantly relieve traffic congestion.
Belief that specified "Box Route", on-line and internal improvements should first be implemented and tested before further consideration is given to any new road proposal.
